01The problem

Stock for each warehouse lived in its own spreadsheet. Knowing what was on hand meant phoning the store, and expiring lots turned up when someone went to use them.

    Stock by phone call

    Every warehouse kept its own sheet, so a single stock figure took calls and a merged file that was out of date by the afternoon.

    Expiry found late

    Lot expiry dates sat in a column nobody sorted, so short-dated material surfaced at the moment production needed it.

    Reorders by feel

    Purchase decided when to reorder from experience, with no view of how fast each material was actually being used.

02What we built

One record, scanned at every step.

Barcodes at the gate, the rack and the dock feed a single stock record. Forecasts and expiry alerts are built on top of it.
